Eating PB&J while I wait for my clothes to wash. |
I am currently in week 2 of my 16 week marathon training plan. Patty threw 4 plans into a pot, stirred it up and the one that we are following is what came out. Mississauga Marathon on May 5 is what I have my sights on. You may remember that Mississauga was my first half last May so I'm happy to have my first full be out there too. I'm pretty excited. We've been doing my favourite, hills a lot but haven't started on speed yet. While I do want to get a new PR at the Chilly half in March, I just want to get to the finish line in one piece for the marathon so speed isn't at the top of the list of must do's right now. The weather lately has been snowy, windy and frigid (Tuesdays run was -25*C with the windchill) but I've still managed to get out there and get things done so I'm super proud of myself, even if others think that I'm crazy.
Unfortunately I've hurt my leg and had to slack off a bit this week. I'm not sure what the problem is and thanks to Google I've given myself a million diagnosis so I've got an appointment with Patty's physio guy tomorrow afternoon to try to sort things out for me. At the rate that I am going I'll let you know how it goes by March break. Haha. Any way, I've been icing like crazy and taking ibuprofen like it's going out of style to try to help things out. Keep your fingers crossed. I barely got any sleep on Tuesday night freaking out about it after one of my late night Google sessions. Thankfully I've just downloaded a new cheesy Highland romance onto my Kindle so I have been able to read to keep my mind off of things and my fingers off of the Google page......
So that's it for now. Tune in next time for an update on my physio appointment and pictures of my new washer! *exciting*
No matter what injury you have, rest is one of the best medicines. It's only week 2 of 16!
ReplyDeleteBut yay for getting out there and still checking blogs!
Boo about the injury, YAA about the full. I'm pretty sure Patty is targeting a 4hr marathon? You too? If so, we MUST start together. That's my target (again)
ReplyDeleteLife can get so full and busy and if you are going to drop something, might as well be blogging. Hope you are feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the injury. Hopefully nothing serious and clears up quickly! Mississauga was my first marathon choice as well...and I think it's a good one! Happpy training.
ReplyDeleteHey, Sam, glad you're back to blogging. I've missed it. Sorry to hear about the leg but obviously things are better since I've seen your Daily Mile posts. Mississauga is a great race. You're going to do awesome there.
ReplyDeleteOh no!! Hopefully your physio guy is able to help sort out your leg!
ReplyDeleteWoah! I'm really digging the template/theme of this blog. It's simple, yet effective.
ReplyDeleteA lot of times it's very hard to get that "perfect balance" between superb usability and visual appeal. I must say you've done a excellent job with this.
Additionally, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Safari.
Outstanding Blog!
